Middle School

A bridge between childhood and adolescence, our Middle School helps students build strong academic foundations, grow in confidence, and thrive in a supportive, internationally minded environment.

At the Canadian School of Milan, Middle School marks the beginning of the IB Middle Years Programme, a dynamic and inquiry-based curriculum that encourages students to think critically, make connections across disciplines, and take ownership of their learning.

From Grade 6, students are taught by subject specialists, giving them access to a broad range of expertise and teaching approaches. New subjects are introduced at this stage—including French, Visual Art, and  Drama.

Students are given purposeful homework tasks and receive personalised feedback that supports their growth as independent, reflective learners. Their efforts and achievements are regularly acknowledged through a merit system that celebrates creativity, persistence, and progress.

Beyond academics, Middle School students are encouraged to take part in a vibrant co-curricular programme. Clubs include options such as Coding, Robotics, Creative Writing, and Environmental Action. Leadership and collaboration are further developed through opportunities like the Student Council, school assemblies, and inter-house challenges.

Public speaking and debate are woven into the student experience, helping to build communication skills and confidence. Students also engage in service initiatives and fundraising activities, often led by tutor groups, fostering social responsibility and global awareness.

Middle School at CSM offers a vibrant, supportive, and intellectually stimulating environment that helps students grow into reflective, capable, and compassionate young adults.
