Reflecting on Black History Month

Empowering Insights: Reflecting on Black History Month with Guest Speaker Ms. Blue and Student Leader Martine.

To conclude Black History Month, Middle and High School students had the privilege and pleasure of listening to and meeting guest speaker Ms. Blue who visited both the Canadian School of Milan Gioia and Vivaio campuses all the way from the United States of America!

Ms. Blue spoke to Middle and High school students about her experiences of growing up in a segregated America and answered student questions about her childhood, education, challenges and inspirations.  Thank you, Ms. Blue for visiting our school community to help bring what is studied in History lessons to life and to highlight the importance of remembering and learning from the past in order to provide a crucial perspective for understanding and solving present and future challenges in our world.

A special congratulations to Grade 7 student Martine on organizing an outstanding Black History Month for the Canadian School of Milan!  Martine worked extremely hard to coordinate and organize all events that have taken place throughout the month of February such as student workshops, competitions and our guest speaker event to help our school community learn more about and celebrate the contributions of influential individuals, demonstrating strong student leadership skills.  Fantastic work, Martine!
