General
1. What is the best international school in Milan?
While we leave it to families to decide what's best for them, the Canadian School of Milan (CSM) is widely regarded as one of Milan's top international schools. We offer high-quality education from Nursery to Grade 12, a warm and inclusive community, and excellent academic outcomes.
2. How do I apply to CSM?
You can start the admissions process by completing the online inquiry form or contacting our Admissions Team at admissions@canadianschool.it. Applications are open year-round, subject to availability.
3. What curriculum does CSM follow?
We offer a blended international programme: the Ontario curriculum in Primary, the Cambridge IGCSE in Grades 9–10, and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme in Grades 11–12.
4. Is the school accredited?
Yes. CSM is accredited to offer the IB Diploma Programme and is an approved Cambridge International School. We are also recognized by the Ontario Ministry of Education.
5. What age can my child start at CSM?
Children may start our Early Years Programme at age 2 (Nursery 2s). We welcome students up to age 18.
6. Who owns CSM? CSM is a privately owned school, founded in 2004 by Antonella Salvadori del Prato. Unlike schools managed by large educational groups or investment funds, CSM continues to be personally overseen by its founder, ensuring a strong sense of vision, consistency, and community.
Fees & Tuition
6. How much are the school fees?
Tuition fees vary by grade level. You can find the full fee schedule on our website or by contacting admissions@canadianschool.it.
7. Are there additional costs beyond tuition?
Yes, additional costs may include meals, transportation, uniforms, and optional trips or activities. A detailed breakdown is available upon request.
8. Is financial aid or a scholarship available?
At this time, CSM does not offer financial aid or scholarships. However, tuition plans can be discussed with our Admissions Office.
Language & Curriculum
9. What languages are taught at CSM?
English is the main language of instruction. Italian and French are taught from Primary School onwards. Our Primary School offers a unique trilingual programme.
10. Is the school bilingual or trilingual?
Our Primary School is trilingual (English, Italian, and French), while the rest of the school operates primarily in English with strong language programmes.
11. Does my child need to speak English before enrolling?
Depends at what stage of entry. We offer English as an Additional Language (EAL) support for students who are not yet fluent in English. All students need to take an English and Maths assessment prior to entering CSM.

12. What diplomas does CSM offer?
We offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma and the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).
13. Where do students go to university after graduating?
CSM graduates attend top universities around the world including institutions in the UK, US, Canada, Italy, and across Europe.
14. How are students supported academically?
We provide individual support through specialist teachers, counsellors, and small class sizes. Academic progress is monitored regularly and communicated to families.

Our student body includes over 35 nationalities, reflecting a rich and inclusive international community.
16. How does CSM support new international families?
We offer orientation sessions, buddy programmes for new students, and ongoing support from teachers, coordinators, and parent associations.
17. What is the school’s approach to student well-being?
Student well-being is central to our mission. We have pastoral care systems, school counsellors, and a caring staff that monitors student social and emotional development.
Daily Life & Extras
18. Does the school provide lunch or transportation?
Yes. Hot lunches and snack services are available, cooked on-site and transportation can be arranged through a trusted provider.
19. What extracurricular activities are available?
CSM offers a wide range of clubs, sports, music, drama, art, and service opportunities, including the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, MUN, and school productions.
20. Are uniforms required?

Admissions-Specifics
21. Is there a waiting list?
Some grades may have waiting lists, especially in high-demand grade groups. We encourage early application.
22. When should I apply?
Applications are accepted throughout the year, but we recommend applying as early as possible, particularly for mid-year entry.
23. Can we tour the school before applying?
Absolutely. We welcome personal tours and Open Days. Please contact admissions@canadianschool.it to schedule a visit.
24. Is mid-year entry possible?
Yes, mid-year admissions are possible depending on space and the student’s profile.
25. How long does the admissions process take?
Once all documentation is submitted and the assessment/interview is complete, decisions are typically made within two weeks.
